Title: Strategies toward the structure controlled synthesis of conjugated nitrogen containing polymers with enhanced proccesability

Conjugated polymers due to interesting properties, such as low cost and conductivity, are promising candidates for different applications. Polymers synthesized from aromatic amines have their unique place among conductive polymers. Due to controlled conductivity and chemical stability to the environment they started to be used in electrical, electrochemical and optical applications. Nowadays, one of this polymrs, polyaniline-PANi, is already used in the smart phones, lithium ion batteries, biosensors, electrods and in LCD applications. But, the areas of the usage of these polymers are limited because of poor solubility and thereof low processability. Different strategies to solve this problem as well as the methods for the synthesis of polymers with controlled structure will be presented. Synthesis methods are industrial –oxidative polymerization, azocouping. Copolymerization, chemical modification of the conjugated polymers structure with incorporation of different polar substituents and flexible groups in the main polymer chain, design of 2D structures will be discussed.

Prof. N.A. Durgaryan is a head of the Department of Organic Chemistry in Yerevan State University. Her fields of scientific interests include the synthesis, properties, structural peculiarities of different new conjugated and nonconjugated semiconductive, complex-forming polymers for future application in electronics, sensors, metal adsorption from wastewater etc.  Her Doctoral work was devoted to the structural analogues of PANi and electroconductivity problems of some nitrogen containing polymers.
